Adverse Actions
The adverse actions regulations (firing, suspensions, etc.)
potentially come into play if you breech the leave regulations,
should your agency propose your suspension or firing for leave
abuse, not following agency rules, etc.
These regulations are not applicable to the Postal Service, which
uses the Negotiated Grievance Procedure unless you have “Veteran’s
Preference,” in which case you can elect either the grievance
procedure or the adverse action regulations. However, just because
you were in the military and are a veteran, does not necessarily
mean that you have “Veteran’s Preference.” That’s a whole other
story.
